EXPECTATIONS are monumentally high for this debut LP from Temples- a band that have played spectacular live sets in grand and acute spaces bringing an equal amount of precise technique and stage presence to each.

Homing the sticky craft of psychedelic pop, Temples recorded this fine piece of artistry in a spare room in their home town of Kettering,  and with its jangling guitars and tumbling drums, its every inch of Noel Gallagher’s “future of the galaxy” synopsis.

Laying down the law with opener ‘Shelter Song’,  Temples get it ridiculously right with its 1960’s melody and retro lyrical lay down, ‘Shelter Song’ is the perfect encapsulation of the band’s ethos.

Atmospheric title track ‘Sun Structures’ is a true highlight as it smashes around in a dark and unknown universe offering up mystic melodies and dramatic drums.

‘The Golden Throne’ does the entire LP justice in just four minutes long, taking you on a galactic journey with fledging guitars and a strong melody resonated into its soul- this is the asset of the release.

Single ‘Keep in the Dark’ is Temples at their best, in my opinion. Spinning their own lick of glam across T Rex influences, its repetitive lyrics, hook and harmonies lead into psychedelic whirls that beg for the repeat button.

Leading straight into current single ‘Mesmerise’Temples turn their hand to an atmospheric melody and dynamic drum pulse.  This stomping track makes great use of their percussive technique infecting the listener with its fast paced approach at psych.

‘A Question Isn’t Answered’ blurs you into a hypnotic trance. Staying very much with the 1960’s influence, its back to the basics of psychedelic rock with haunting lyrics and prominent drums.

Temples prove their versatilty throughout this LP and the strutting ‘Sand Dance’ is a lavish portrayal of that, layered with rock riffs and a band full of fire in their belly.
