WITH one day to go until Playground Festival touches down at in Glasgow, Tenement TV are giving you everything you need to know about this eclectic and electric festival.

Taking over Rouken Glen Park for three days in August, Playground Festival brings an incredible lineup from indie to dance, to hip-hop icons and more. Alongside the incredible music on show, the festival also boasts a huge lineup of streetfood vendors, from Glasgow’s own Big Feed, as well as a huge range of drinks available across the site. Check out the site map below.

Playground kicks off in incredible fashion, with sets from La La, Illyus & Barrientos and The Cuban Brothers, getting the party started early. Tropically-tinged indie outfit Friendly Fires will also be taking to the stage. Known for their dance-fuelling and infectious sound, Friendly Fires have become a huge festival favourite since breaking through in 2008 with their critically-acclaimed debut album. The opening day of Playground 2019 is rounded off in incredible style with a Scottish live exclusive. Groove Armada will bring their soulful dance sound to Glasgow, with classic tracks including ‘Superstylin’, ‘My Friend’ and the chilled-out unmistakably soulful sound of ‘At the River’.

Kicking off even earlier than the Friday, the Saturday of Playground Festival is packed with even more incredible acts. From Coronation Street to behind the decks, Craig Charles will be bringing his ‘Funk and Soul’ show to Playground 2019. Dropping an eclectic mix from mowtown through disco and dance classics, his set is bound to go down a storm with the Glasgow crowd, of all ages. Hip hop icons De La Soul are also taking to the Saturday stage, as all eyes head towards the second headliner, Ms. Lauryn Hill. From her beginnings in Fugees, through to her record breaking and multi-award winning album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, the American singer has risen to seemingly unshakable respect.

As Playground Festival begins to “wind down” on Sunday 4th August, the lineup shows no signs of slowing at all, starting with sets from Telford, Lylo, The Pictish Trail and more. English electronic duo have churned out a huge back catalogue that transcends from laid-back and minimal soul, through to all-out dance and garage, set to get the crowd moving as evening pours in over Rouken Glen Park. After joining musical forces at Edinburgh College of Art, alternative quartet Django Django have released three critically-acclaimed albums, been featured on Fifa 18 and toured the world. Their 2018 record ‘Marble Skies’ saw the band build on their sound, providing a collection of catchy, yet experimental tracks that was me with huge admiration from critics and their dedicated fanbase. Playground Festival 2019 is closing with one of the best live dance acts in the country. Hot Chip, one of the most iconic and well-love electro outfits in the UK have risen to being festival favourites throughout their long and thriving career. Known for improvising and jamming out their plethora of hits live, the band have become a huge fan favourite, notably pulling out a dance-peppered of Bruce Spingsteen’s ‘Dancing in the Dark’.
