14224934_10154157099222663_3135886660218804863_nAS Tenement Trail continues to grow and expand with every passing year since its inception four years ago, it’s only natural that bands from further flung locales than our Scottish base of operations decide that they’d like to get in on the action.

With Glasgow largely revered by the outside world as the city in which the most raucous music fans on earth congregate to form a swelling mass of passionate sing-a-longs and massive responses; meeting every driving riff or thunderous chorus with cries of beery approval, it’s only right that Tenement Trail should be a vessel for bands that aren’t ingrained into the city’s scene to bring their own brand of ruckus or serenity to Sauchiehall Street.

Spanning all manner of genres, here’s a quick guide to the touring bands that’ll be making the trek up to Glasgow for the extravaganza on the 8th October.

Milburn

Our Tenement Trail headliners and the band that will stride out in front of a riled up crowd as we make our maiden voyage into the grand venue of the ABC 1, Sheffield’s Milburn are a band reborn and with a renewed sense of purpose.

Having first taken the music world by storm in 2006 amid the indie rock explosion that engulfed the year’s landscape, Milburn’s formative years saw them release two hook-packed albums of alternative anthems that captured the chaotic spirit of their youth in Sheffield.

Drawing the first era of their career to a close in 2008, Tenement Trail will see the band return to the site of one of their final gigs as they reclaim the ABC with their boisterous and rugged material.

Far from revelling in past glories, the four piece recently revealed ‘Midnight Control’; a brand new single which alludes to a more mature and refined sound yet retains the impeccable songwriting chops which marked them out as such a thoroughly impressive force.

Sure to seize the ears and hearts all over again and with a hugely loyal fanbase proving how elated they are to have them back with sold out shows throughout the land, We’re delighted to play our part in welcoming audiences to the next evolution of Milburn.

THE PAPER KITES

Hailing from Australia, The Paper Kites are a bonafide phenomenon in their homeland that lies across the hemisphere. Operating within the regularly inventive realm of folk/indie rock, the band’s sound focuses around emotive guitar, enriching dual vocals and a constant urge to reinvent themselves in order to never get too comfortable. Take the band’s 2015 outing Twelvefour for example, which saw them dispense with the more brooding aspects of their sound in favour of a broadly up-tempo and exuberant sound which they carried off with fluidity and confidence.

Sure to go over well with the city’s receptive audience, The Paper Kites never fail to impress with their vast catalogue of masterfully crafted tracks.

Johnny Lloyd

A troubadour in the traditional sense of the word, Johnny Lloyd’s songwriting possesses a defined originality within a bustling marketplace that immediately signifies that you’re in his company as soon as the track begins. Beginning his career with the successful rock ‘n’ roll outfit Tribes, Lloyd’s hiatus is now well and truly over as his fantastic Dreamland EP proves with finesse.

Comprised of four fantastic tracks which see Lloyd tangle with the touching sounds of Americana, eclectic pop and rock at different junctures, production duties for the release were handled by none other than Hugo White of The Maccabees and the ever impressive Jamie T.

Selling out several shows on his upcoming jaunt around the UK, it’d be foolish not to catch Johnny Lloyd in more humble surroundings while you still have the option.

Phoria

At long last releasing their debut album after a string of great singles and EP’s, the future continues to look blindingly bright for Phoria in the wake of Volition’s release earlier in the year.

Blending traditional instrumentation with a maelstrom of inviting electronica, the Brighton based band harbour a sound like no other and it’s this fervent creativity that has led them to an extensive tour of Germany,  support slots with Bat For Lashes across Europe and sharing festival bills with the pioneers that inspired them at events such as Latitude and Together The People in Preston.

Mixing ambience with everything from undertones of R&B to euphoric techno, we’re ecstatic to welcome this ambitious five piece to the dear green place in a mere matter of weeks.

Causing a stir among musos and tastemakers for their intelligent yet energetic output dance-tinged rock, SWEAT have certainly left their mark on England and are sure to be branching out further afield in the near future.

Just days removed from supporting Lady Gaga at Moth Club and preparing to embark on a short run of dates with Spain’s Hinds, their singles ‘Be Complete’ and ‘PLW VIP’ are decadent, eccentric and exemplary of a band that know exactly what makes them an intriguing proposition.

BLESS.

No-nonsense, ambitiously-minded rock ‘n’ roll that makes no apologies and asks for no quarter, BLESS are a staple of London’s venues and armed with a myriad of songs that seem streamlined to fall in love with.

Releasing their Music Comes First EP at the tail end of last year, its title is apt for a band that truly relish the rollercoaster ride that is playing in a band with your nearest and dearest. rRacking up gigs in France and performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival with influences such as that of The Jam, The Clash and The Kinks adorned on their sleeves with pride, this is a band that’s sure to have hands in the air and drinks lobbed into the sky when they take to the stage at TT16.

YVES

Fresh off the back off an impressive showing on the This Feeling stage at this year’s Leeds Festival, the hard-hitting rock outfit that describe themselves as simply ‘Phenomenal’ have hit the ground running over the last year.

Emanating from Swindon and the purveyors of a slew of blistering tracks that constituted their debut When The Day Comes EP, this trio is tailor-made for an audience that wants to revel in the raw, uninhibited pleasure of guitar music played at high volumes.
