THE fifth edition of the Dumfries Music Conference kicks off this weekend with a specially curated programme featuring workshops, live music, radio shows, discussion panels and a special film evening.

Taking place at The Stove from 19-21st October, Tenement TV will be there to offer aspiring musicians and upcoming bands sound advice on how to secure coverage from the best music journalists, broadcasters and producers. Editorial Director Nadine Walker will appear on the ‘Getting Press and Media’ panel on Saturday 21st October at 1pm alongside Jim Gellatly (Amazing Radio, CamGlen Radio, The Sun), Derick Mackinnon (The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday) and Amy Ferguson (The Janice Forsyth Show on BBC Radio Scotland).

Other highlights of the weekend will include a special session about Scottish music video director Drew John Barnes who has worked with the likes of Enter Shikari, Fatmanscoop, Texas and VEVO. Meanwhile Radio DMC will showcase live music and interviews under the stewardship of Jim Gellatly, Melissa Gunn and Emily Cooper while aspiring musicians will also be given the opportunity to hear from a panel of special music industry experts featuring guests from Creative Scotland, Musicians’ Union, PRS, Help Musicians UK and XpoNorth who will offer guidance on how to make money through writing, recording and playing music.

Following a weekend of key musical insight and engaging discussion, the weekend will come to an end with a live set from Be Charlotte and hotly tipped local band Franky’s Evil Party.

Now in its fifth year, the Dumfries Music Conference is a brilliant opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from experienced figures in Scotland’s evolving music industry.
