FOLLOWING weeks of hype and anticipation, the time has come for the BBC 6 Music Festival to finally descend on Glasgow this week for what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest music events of the year.

Boasting one of its most eclectic line-ups to date, this year’s festival will attract some of the world’s best musical talent to the city’s most revered venues alongside a plethora of local bands and artists. In keeping with the radio station’s esteemed dedication to alternative music, the BBC have secured an enthralling mixture of the big, up and coming, retro and utterly leftfield for this year’s event which will be broadcast live on digital radio; the likes of Father John Misty, The Shins, Grandaddy, Depeche Mode, Car Seat Headrest and Bonobo are all slated to appear across the weekend alongside a strong Scottish contingent featuring Belle & Sebastian, The Jesus and Mary Chain. Anna Meredith, Honeyblood and Edwyn Collins.

And while tickets have flown out for many of these highly sought-after events, there is still plenty to get excited about; the 6 Music Festival is also running an extensive programme of Fringe events to coincide with its ticketed shows. Running between the 20th and 26th March across 20 different venues, the Fringe will shine a light on some of the city’s brightest talent in a unique celebration of Glasgow’s rich musical and cultural story.
