NOW in its fifth year, Independent Venue Week is a unique celebration of the spirit of independence and the culture of live music.

As a crucial platform for emerging artists and local communities, small venues are the lifeblood of the UK’s thriving music scene and it is integral that we do everything in our power to protect and support them. Whether giving young bands their first experience of playing live or allowing passionate music fans to get up and close with an artist who may one day go onto take over the world, these venues are hugely important to the future of live music everywhere.

A nationwide event that manages to retain a strong local focus, Independent Venue Week is a 7-day celebration of grassroots music; from the venues themselves to the people who run them. As well as celebrating the memories of the past, it’s also about securing a bright future; ensuring that future generations of music lovers have the same chance to experience raw, visceral and authentic live music in all its glory.

With a plethora of fantastic live venues across Scotland, a series of special gigs have been organised across the country to coincide with the event. Taking in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Galashiels and more, this year’s Independent Venue Week will celebrate the likes of Broadcast, The Hug and Pint, Sneaky Pete’s, Beat Generator, Leith Depot and more.
