THE nominations for the ninth edition of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards have officially been announced.
Set to take place in Saint Luke’s for the first time later this month, this year’s awards will once again shine a light on the huge breadth of talent currently emerging from Scotland’s thriving music scene. Featuring a wildly eclectic bunch of bands and solo artists of many styles and genres, the SAMAs have announced the nominees for the categories of Best Acoustic, Best Rock/Alternative, Best Newcomer, Best Live Act, Best Electronic, Best Metal and Best Hip Hop.
Not only will the winners of each category be revealed on 25th October at the ceremony in one of Glasgow’s finest venues, the night will also see eagerly anticipated performances from electronic outfit Blanck Mass and popular party starters The Vegan Leather.
Among the nominees are Tenement Trail alumni LUCIA, Declan Welsh & the Decadent West, Voodoos and St Martiins who will all battle it out in the Hoyle co tested Best Rock/Alternative category. Other hotly tipped artists nominated include Zoe Graham, CRYSTAL, The Dunts Beta Waves, Solareye, Free Love, Lylo and Kobi Onyame.
