arctic monkeys ttvARCTIC MONKEYS have been awarded the top prize for best live act at this year’s 02 Silver Clef Awards.

Fending off competition from a slew of famed artists such as the returning Kate Bush, Foo Fighters, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, the award is notable as it is the only one which is determined via public vote.

Occurring today at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, The Silver Clef Awards have been a British musical institution since their inception in 1976.

Set up as a means of raising funds for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, previous winners include a whos-who of rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest stars such as The Who, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, The Clash and Oasis.

Releasing a statement to acknowledge the win, Arctic Monkeys have stated “”Thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped us win this year’s Nordoff Robbins Best Live Act Award at the O2 Silver Clefs. It’s a real honour to be chosen. Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on their 40th birthday and for all the incredible work they do using music therapy to help people.”
