COLDPLAY’S
headline set on the closing night of  Glastonbury featured a poignant version of ‘Boys That Sing’, a track from the late Warrington band Viola Beach.

With the entire group tragically dying in a  car crash in Sweden earlier this year, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin spoke candidly about their feelings on the awful incident and their desire to create ‘an alternate future’ in which the once hotly tipped young act could occupy the very same slot.

Allowing them to ‘headline Glastonbury for a song’, Martin remarked that he hoped that they’d do it justice and urged fans to ‘send it up the charts tomorrow.’

Whilst Coldplay are always a divisive band among music fans, there was no denying that this was a truly beautiful gesture and a fitting tribute to the late group.
