THE
subject of a lengthy and ongoing dispute, Councillors in Edinburgh have decided to make amendments to their live music policy.

Having implemented legislation which ensured that both music and accompanying vocals must be kept at a volume which couldn’t be in any way audible to any neighboring buildings; meaning that one solitary complaint could result in the complete cancellation of the event, the council has began to listen to reason and has realised the detrimental effect that this may have upon their music scene’s health.

The product of a lengthy five hour hearing which featured campaigners on both sides pleading their case, the council has now pledged to find a happy medium between aiding the creative arts and not disturbing residential areas.

With an action plan set to be unveiled in the near future, the policy has been officially rectified and now reads: “Amplified music shall not be an audible nuisance in neighbouring residential premises.”
