daftpunkbbcFRENCH dance overlords Daft Punk have reportedly headed into the studio with American alt R&B sensation The Weeknd.

With the duo remaining frustratingly silent in the time since the release of their very own interpretation of studio 64 disco known as Random Access Memories back in 2013, it’s been widely speculated that the band have been working covertly on new material and now it appears that they’ve been dabbling with the man who was responsible for the Off The Wall-esque ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ which stormed the world’s charts last year.

Emerging through an interview with Republic Records’ executive Vice President Wendy Goldstein, she revealed that the session was set to take place in two days from when the interview took place before adding that “I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”

Additionally, last Wednesday saw The Weeknd post the following image on Facebook and seems to confirm the collaboration:
