FOALS - Yannis PhilippakisFOALS have rescinded on their previous claims of going on hiatus and will begin work on another new album later this year.

Having initially claimed that their fourth record What Went Down would be their last for the foreseeable future, it appears that their viewpoint has shifted dramatically over the course of the past few months.

With the band initially viewing their upcoming headline slot at Reading & Leeds as the beginning of their period of recuperation, frontman Yannis Philippakis has now clarified that they are to begin preparations for their fifth LP immediately after agig in Hong Kong this coming November.

Deeming the decision to be a conscious effort to ensure that they stay out of their comfort zone, Yannis claimed that:

“I want us to break the chains of familiarity and to have that question mark in the room again. I think that it’ll be beneficial for the band just to be nervous about being in the room together again. I think we need to rock our own boat.”

Coming in the wake of claims from guitarist Jimmy Smith that ‘there’s more to come after reading’, it appears that this era of the band’s prolific career may just be beginning.
