Arches-Glasgow-clubs-600GLASGOW’S much-loved Arches venue is to remain open despite a police pledge to have the venue shut-down due to alleged drug-related offences.

A woman collapsed outside The Arches venue in Glasgow City Centre on Sunday after a dance event at the venue. The woman was found unconscious outside the club in the early hours of Sunday and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police sought a permanent closure order for the venue and licensing chiefs held a meeting this morning to decide what action to take.

Licensing chiefs decided to keep the venue open, stating that terms of Section 97 have not been met and the application for closure has not been met. The Arches will therefore remain open.
