LEGENDARY Scottish author Irvine Welsh is at the helm of a new TV show about the rise of acid house in the late 80’s.

With the music that he’s enamoured with often playing a major role in his highly innovative tales such as Trainspotting, Ecstasy and others , it has been announced that he is set to work on a programme entitled Ibiza87 which will chart the lives of dance music royalty Nicky Holloway, Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfeld and Johnny Walker in this crucially important period in the genre’s history.

Written in conjunction with award-winning screenwriter and journalist Dean Cavanagh, iconic DJ Oakenfeld has said of the series:

“I’m very excited about this project. As you know, it ties in with the 30-year anniversary of our trip to Ibiza and what followed thereafter; the birth of the dance music club and festival scene as we know it today. It’s great to celebrate with this project as well as my world tour this year which is about just that, three generations of dance music.”

Produced by Fulwell 73, TTV will be sure to update you on this story as further details emerge.
