SOME of Scotland’s top music venues have been named by Pollstar in the top 200 busiest club venues in the world.

The mid-year poll has revealed that the O2 Academy is the 11th busiest club venue in the world. Elsewhere on the list, the legendary King Tut’s appears at 71, the SWG3 at 81 and Saint Luke’s at 163. Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms appears at 173, Glasgow’s QMU at 189 and Glasgow Garage at 193.

The poll is dominated by venues in the US but Scotland’s strong showing indicates that the nation’s music scene is very much alive and well. In a year which has seen some of the world’s hottest acts and breakthrough artists descend on Scottish soil and with our own music scene flourishing like never before, Scotland’s appetite for live music shows no sign of slowing down.
