EDINBURGH’S Young Fathers, Royal Blood and Blur frontman Damon Albarn are among the artists nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize.

Bombay Bicycle Club and East India Youth also see their records recognised. Award-winning poet Kate Tempest is also on the list for the prize that will see the winner announced on Wednesday 29th October at London’s Roundhouse.

Last year’s winner James Blake was nominated among acts including Jake Bugg and Arctic Monkeys.

Young Fathers are fresh from winning the Scottish Album of the Year award. The hip-hop act have this time been nominated for Dead, the SAY award given earlier this year was for Tape II.
