paolo titp 2014PAISLEY’S Paolo Nutini has announced that he is looking for unsigned acts to support him during his upcoming Hogmanay shows.

Taking place on both the 30th December and city’s world renowned concert in the gardens, the singer/songwriter’s upcoming gigs in Edinburgh will enable up-and-coming acts the chance to play in front of vast crowds the likes of which they couldn’t have imagined at this stage in their career.

Having already handpicked fellow Scots Frightened Rabbit and Liverpool’s The Lightning Seeds to perform at the historic shows, the newly unveiled ‘Hog The Stage’ initiative will allow new bands to submit their music to be judged by none other than the man himself.

After listening to each entry, Nutini will pick five new acts to potentially play alongside him before they are put to a public vote that will allow two to eventually be chosen as the winners.

Applications are open from Monday 14th November at 10am until Friday 25th November. To apply, bands are to send the following information to hogthestage@edinburghshogmanay.com –

Send 1 MP4 track plus a link to either Soundcloud, YouTube, Bandcamp etc. In addition, send 100 words about your band. Who are you and why should you open for Paolo Nutini? Send a jpeg file between 50kb and 2mb of your band. If your band has social media accounts, send links to your accounts. Finally, please provide a contact telephone number so EH can contact you if selected for the online vote.

In other news related to Paolo’s monumental shows in the nation’s capital, the personally curated bill will also see Tenement Trail alumni and rising art-pop quartet The Vegan Leather perform at both shows in what is undoubtedly one of their biggest accomplishments to date.
