QUEENS of the Stone Age are reportedly finished their new record having worked on the new album on and off since last summer.

Confirmed in a podcast by previous QOTSA collaborator Mark Lanegan but not yet by the band themselves, the news comes in the latest episode of ‘Let There Be Talk‘, actor and host Dean Delray is in conversation with Lanegan who says: “I know they just finished, I’m dying to hear it.”

A recent post on QOTSA instagram regarding Donald Trump hints at a political edge to the new record to reflect the current times. The post read: “This man is a shallow, inept, multi-bankrupt declaring, narcissistic, narrow minded, out of touch, objectifying, barf inducing, fascist, clown penis… who also happens to be re-stup-redicu-lame,” wrote QOTSA on Instagram. The band’s post concluded with a quote from political theorist Edmund Burke, who is viewed as the philosophical founder of modern conservatism: ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’”

In addition to this proclamation by long-time friend and confidant Delray, the band have also set the internet ablaze with the announcement of their first live show of 2017. Set to headline at Australia’s Splendour In The Grass  in July alongside The XX, LCD Soundsystem, Father John Misty and many more, it provides us a timeline for when they’ll be ready to hit the road.
