vinyl-tuesday-record-store-dayTHE annual Record Store Day event is to expand upon its success with a weekly event dubbed ‘Vinyl Tuesday’.

2014 marked an almost 50% increase in sales of the once thought extinct format of records, with a whopping eight million being purchased by music fans who aren’t content to merely possess their music digitally.

Given the success of Record Store Day since its inception in 2007, the organisers are continuing to look to assist independent shops by releasing the kind of exclusives that are found during the annual RSD on a weekly basis.

The weekly releases will be sorted into five separate categories which are as follows: catalog releases, commercial/promotional releases, releases which are specifically intended for the RSD community, albums that had previously only been available on CD or digital formats and vinyl releases that will emerge before their digital counterparts.

An official launch date for the new incentive has yet to be confirmed, but it’s an exciting prospect for music fans nonetheless.
