tameTO simply say the anticipation for Tame Impala’s new record Currents due to drop on 17th July is high, is the understatement of week. Their PR machine have been trickling out tracks, teasers, the track listing, the band’s synopsis of the new piece of music and now -with just over one week today before release – the band share ‘Currents in the Making‘.

Directed and Produced by Matt Sav and Kevin Parker, the intense video shows studio sessions with mixes of the new material playing in the background.

The video shows both sunshine drenched sessions and midnight recordings, featuring the band in intense shots creating riffs and laying down the drums.

The 13 track record was written, recorded, produced and mixed by Kevin Parker in Fremantle, West Australia. Lyrically the record finds Parker in a very different place in 2015 to where he was seven years ago. Transitions in life, relationships, perspectives, mindsets – Currents maps Parker’s evolution through these and finds him a brand new person.

Typically, initial Tame Impala recordings saw Parker’s vocal hidden beneath a layer of psychedelic fuzz, drenched in reverb, lyrics ambiguous. Currents find’s Kevin Parker’s voice front and centre, so no bones are made about his intent.
