TRNSMT has been crowned best new festival at this year’s UK Festival Awards.

Coinciding with tickets for this year’s event being made available to the masses, the Glasgow Green event’s inaugural edition was emphatically received by both the public and fans alike and has resulted in this year’s festival being expanded to two weekends in July.

Shortlisted for three separate categories at the renowned ceremony, TRNSMT fended off competition from a number of other festivals to attain the win through a hybrid of public voting and the decision of the main judging panel.

Head of DF Concerts Geoff Ellis has said of their triumph:

“I am really grateful to everyone who voted for us, the wonderful artists, fantastic audience, Glasgow City Council, and the inspiring hard working team who pulled it all off… and of course the magnificent audience!”

Having brought headliners such as Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro to the city last year, 2018’s line-up is beginning to take shape and features a litany of tremendous talent including Liam Gallagher, Stereophonics, Wolf Alice, Courtneers and there are still scores of acts to be announced.

Tickets for next year’s festival are available from today at 9am via their official site.
