2017 marks the 50th anniversary of The Doors; a significant milestone for a seminal rock band whose legacy continues make itself known and spread its influence in today’s music industry. With many special activities being arranged to mark the occasion, an exciting announcement has been made about the release of LONDON FOG 1966; a collector’s boxed set that will feature previously unheard material along with some special memorabilia. It will be a release that devoted fans of The Doors will not want to miss out on.

Before they first burst onto the scene in 1967, the four-piece were originally a house band at a nightclub located on the Sunset Strip called The London Fog, a position that they would later attain at the revered  Whisky a Go Go situated mere yards up the street . Only recently have some live audio recordings been discovered of the band performing at the London Fog and they are shared on this unique compilation, providing us with some of the earliest material known to exist. Previously unreleased, these rare recordings find the quartet mixing blues covers such as Muddy Waters’ ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’ and Little Richard’s ‘Lucille’  with early versions of some of their original tracks. The track listing includes one of the only known live recordings of ‘Strange Days’, which would go onto become the title track of their second studio album and ‘You Make Me Real’ which wouldn’t publicly surface until 1970’s Morrison Hotel. The show featured on LONDON FOG 1966 took place the same year that The Doors recorded their hugely influential eponymous debut album, and therefore gives an insight into the band at their most raw at the earliest stages of their career.

Featuring songs from the set on both CD and 10-inch record designed to resemble a test pressing, the collector’s set is also full of special memorabilia, unseen photographs and historical liner notes from pivotal figures who were there at the time to witness the magic unfold.

With the big anniversary next year, LONDON FOG 1966 marks the beginning of a special series of releases and events planned to allow fans to trace back through The Doors’ wide-ranging career in ways that have never previously been possible.
