YALA! Records are bringing one hell of a party to one of Glasgow’s most unique venues. On the back of two hugely successful years running showcases in London, the team are making their debut north of the border this November.
YALA! Records is lead by The Maccabees’ Felix White, and Warner Music’s Morad Khokar, and have produced sold out shows in London with the likes of The Magic Gang, IDLES and many more, with special guest DJs including Foals and Wold Alice. It is no surprise that this night is quickly becoming the most important night in guitar music RIGHT NOW.
For their first Scottish adventure, they are kick off in style at McChuills, one of Glasgow’s coolest venues. Catholic Action, one of Scotland’s favourite bands and Album of the Year nominees, alongside newcomers Yakima. Felix and Morad will keep the party going with an official YALA! Records DJ set, with some surprise special guests still to be announced.
Felix White said “We genuinely couldn’t think of a more perfect band to headline our first YALA! in Scotland than Catholic Action. They tore up the London YALA! stage during a special show this summer. Their debut ‘In Memory Of’ was up there with any guitar record made in 2017, showcasing both an unbelievable ease with melody and an eerie understanding of songcraft for a band so early in their lifespan. From what we’ve heard of the follow-up it’s going places too, so we are very excited to have talked them out of the studio to open YALA! in Scotland.”
