FLORENCE + the Machine has opened the second year of Summer Sessions in Princes Street Gardens with two nights of incredible performances. Last night’s sold out show saw two fans Steph and Jenny brought on stage by Florence following a special message on a flag noticed from the stage by the superstar. In an incredibly emotional moment, Steph said to Jenny: “From the moment I met you, I was in love. I know the future will be always be uncertain and difficult but one thing I know I want for certain is for us to grow old together and for you to be my wife.”

After Jenny accepted the proposal, Florence jumped for joy and the three ladies had a group hug.

In a truly one of a kind setting, Florence + the Machine took to the stage to open up 2019’s Summer Sessions Series, with seven more shows in Edinburgh and three in Glasgow still to take place. Playing massive hits like ‘Hunger’ and ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and encouraging a mass singalong, Florence closed the show with the epic and everlasting tune ‘Shake It Out’ as fireworks signalled the end to an incredible first two nights of the festival.
