IT’S refreshing, every once in a while, to pull yourself away from analytical ‘statement’ rock ‘n’ roll – be it political, angsty or simply gloomy.

Sometimes, you appreciate an opportunity to cut loose with no strings attached. Acting Strange’s latest release, ‘Sharp End’ may provide an ample feel-good soundtrack to your desires.

Recorded in a cabin by Berlin’s River Spree, with ‘Sharp End’ you get a feel of a band that’s not taking themselves overly seriously. It takes bottle for any artists to adopt that approach, but it certainly seems to add to the appeal.

You can tell these guys are having fun in the studio; there’s a real jive groove coming from cousins Billy and Ali Strange that bodes well for whatever comes next from them. You can hear ‘Sharp End’ now on Soundcloud and catch the band live at Stag & Dagger in Glasgow on Sunday:
