THE greatest artists are always sure to take cues from the visionaries that paved the way for what we see before us now, and that’s precisely what Albert Hammond Jr has done with the video for ‘Caught By My Shadow.’
Following a similar story arc to what was displayed in the accompanying visuals to ‘Losing Touch’, the latest video sees The Strokes guitarist entrenched in a game of chess with death itself; likely a homage to the legendary scene from Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal.
The track itself is equally impressive, registering as a punchy and boisterous slice of post punk that is defined by Hammond Jr’s increasingly charismatic vocal delivery. Puncutated by frenzied percussion which adds to the sense of urgency which permeates through both track and video, it will no doubt serve as an excellent introduction for anyone who hasn’t yet acquainted themselves with his latest excellent solo record Momentary Masters.
