Bully
WITH a UK tour on the horizon that will see them play two dates in Scotland, Nashville quartet Bully have shared an animated new clip to accompany the incendiary ‘Focused’.
Opening in a rather understated manner, the track simmers for a couple of minutes; keeping you under its spell with some dissonant bass licks driving the tempo throughout. As it builds though, powerhouse Alicia Bognanno unleashes all of her fiery resistance to the surface as she lets out a defiant roar: “I’m trying to stay focused!”
The tension in the track is cleverly depicted in the animated video by Rozalina Burkova. She says it is “loosely based on the theme of coming of age and the ups and downs friendships and relationships.” Bognanno adds in a statement, “I let Rozalina take the reins on this one. I am a huge fan of all her animation work and wanted her to do what she felt was best for this video.
Since the release of their critically acclaimed second album Losing, Bully simply haven’t stopped. They arrive in the UK this May when they will bring their 90s indebted indie anthems to Glasgow’s Hug and Pint and Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s on the 21st and 22nd, respectively.
