The band: Scottish band CHVRCHES released their debut album last year and have since enjoyed worldwide success. The synthpop trio enjoyed a packed tent at T in the Park in the summer and recently played Austin City Limits festival where they debuted new material.

The sound: This track is so good its a shame its three years too late and missed the original soundtrack. It completely encapsulates the pulse of the Drive vibe with its 1980’s elements making for an energetic piece of music. And we can rely on the ever-dreamy vocals of Mayberry to bring it right up-to-date.

The lowdown: Drive, featuring Ryan Gosling, had a hit soundtrack in 2011. A reworked version of the score is the reason behind this new material from CHVRCHES. BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe is behind the project which will also see new tracks from the likes of Foals, Jon Hopkins and Laura Mvula. Lead singer Lauren Mayberry commented: ““We were really excited because musically, the kind of music in the original score fits in with what we are doing.” CHVRCHES have been touring the 2013 record The Bones of What You Believe relentlessly around the world.
