The band: East India Youth is the project of William Doyle, and serves as the outlet for his electronic music. He released his debut album Total Strife Forever back in January of this year and it has garnered huge praise, and has recently been nominated for Album Of The Year at the 2014 AIM Awards. We spoke to him shortly after the release of the album and you can watch the interview here.
The sound: ‘Hinterland’ is the fourth single to be taken from Total Strife Forever and Doyle describes it as being “one of the most crucial tracks in the development of East India Youth over the last couple of years”. It’s an epic eight and a half minute track that builds throughout, before at the mid-way point releasing a burst of energy with a repetitive and brain churning melody that sets your mind on edge.
The lowdown: ‘Hinterland’ will be released on the 15th September, both digitally and as a 12″ vinyl single. He has a few live dates lined up for the year as well including a slot at Festival No. 6 in Portmeirion, Wales on the 6th September.
