A WEEK after they unveiled a surprise new EP titled Recorded Songs, Frightened Rabbit have teamed up with young Scottish animator Ross Hogg to reveal a moving video to accompany one of its tracks ‘Roadless’.

Taking us back in time, the poignant clip combines old home videos, archival footage and animated segments to reinforce the emotional power of the song. Upon its release, the band said: “We’re proud to present the video for ‘Roadless’ to you all today. For the film we teamed up with one of Scotland’s most talented young animators, Ross Hogg. Ross has managed to unlock a layer of beauty with this, painstakingly etching into found footage to create a delicate and poignant animated film. We hope you enjoy watching and listening.”

The track itself is another deeply melancholic number from the band full of familiar Frightened Rabbit imagery about the mundanity of life as Scott Hutchison evokes feelings of aimlessness and disconnection. “In a blur of the days and weeks and months, took the calendar down, and watched everyone going somewhere while I waited to be found,” he sings over plodding rhythms, piano melodies and thick, brooding atmospherics.
