HAVING announced their return at the tail end of last year, Gengahr are back to the top of their game with a new album on the way next month. Ahead of its release, the band have been teasing fans with a slew of well-received tracks; the latest of which has been paired with a brilliant new video by fast-rising director Jamie Whitby.

The third song to be taken from the album, ‘Before Sunrise’ is the type of vibrant and playful track we’ve come to know and love from the outfit; less intense than previous cut ‘Carrion’ and more airy than ‘Mallory’, Felix Bushe’s familiar falsetto is delivered over echoic riffs, laid-back grooves and breezy yet succinct melodies. Finding a sweet spot between atmospheric, cinematic and anthemic, Genghar have proven that they are willing to push their creative boundaries and build their sound in even more compelling ways on their newest album.

The new video depicts the progress of a teenage moped gang from Casablanca and is the perfect, buoyant accompaniment to the band’s music. Director Jamie Whitby said: “This one’s super special for me – the culmination of multiple trips to Morocco and months of WhatsApp chats in very dodgy French trying to convince the Anfa Riders to let this weird guy from London come and shoot with them.

“Huge thanks to the the guys for having us and a big shout out to our local fixer Karim El-Amri and my amazing tiny crew – Sorcha, Jack, and Ruben – who somehow made it all happen in one of the maddest cities in the world”

Where Wildness Grows arrives on 9th march via Transgressive Records. The band embark on a UK and European tour this spring which will bring them to Glasgow’s King Tut’s on 23rd April.
