HeyColossus_Mono_HighRes-3.jpegffTHE BAND: One of the more avant garde acts to emerge from the music world’s renewed love of all things psychedelic, English based sextet Hey Colossus have found themselves an interesting niche within the prosperous international scene. Predating many of the existing crop of bands by a substantial margin and with a sound that ventures into more maudlin territory than the sunny dispositions of many modern pysch outfits; Hey Colossus have returned with the doom laden ‘Black and Gold.’

THE SOUND: the first excerpt to be aired from their latest offering, the track itself is an incredibly dense listen with shades of classic prog acts such as King Crimson thrown into the mix. Structured around a thundering riff that possesses an arresting quality, the comparatively staid vocals throughout create an interesting contrast before the composition descends into a riotous barrage of noise punctuated by visceral drumming.
