honeybloodThe band: Honeyblood landed a T Break spot in 2013 whilst signed to FatCat and have since released their debut album. The Glasgow duo sold-out their headline tour in September and will co-headline the NME New Breed Tour 2014 with Superfood, beginning next month. Honeyblood recently lost their drummer Shona MacVicar making way for new member Cat Myers.

The sound: ‘Choker’ is the follow-up to ‘Super Rat’ and ‘Killer Bangs’ and features lead Stina’s awesomely toned vocals and a great dark alt-rock melody creating a dramatic atmospheric sound.

The video: Directed by Tardo/Williams aka 4eyes.tv, Julian Tardo says about the making of the video: “Stina told me that the song was inspired by Angela Carter’s ‘The Bloody Chamber’, and I loved how Carter reinvented old tales, throwing all sorts of odd new contexts against these classic narratives. So I wanted to house Stina’s reinterpretation of Bluebeard within yet another layer of context – so I suppose it’s Bluebeard through the Bloody Chamber through film noir. I like layering these ideas over and over – I think the essence of human reaction becomes ever starker as you bury it in these layers.”

The lowdown: The band play Glasgow’s King Tuts on 1st November. For more information on gig tickets visit here.
