hqfuINITIALLY immersing herself in Scotland’s revered folk circuit, Sarah J Stanley has blatantly decided that she wishes to push the limits of her creativity under her new moniker of HQFU.

Growing up,  the Aberdeen born Stanley was prohibited from listening to modern music due to her staunch Christian upbringing, meaning that what she could get her hands on; such as her brother’s dance cassettes, were cherished and utilised to educate her in what the modern day musician could be capable of.

Using her love of its production and style as the spark for her new guise, she has revealed the hypnotic ‘Dust & Dirt.’

Employing a production style that is not unlike the sumptuous style of Jamie XX and artists such as Bicep and Koreless, ‘Dust & Dirt’ merges glimpses of resonant guitar with an onslaught of vibrant synths, tender vocal incantations and deep bass. Constantly evolving and never falling near complacency, ‘Dust & Dirt’ feels as though it’s a statement of intent and a proclamation that she has indeed arrived.

HQFU’s upcoming EP Ca$hless Lips will be  available from the 11th November 2015.
