iggypopEXPERIENCING a career renaissance after years of relative inactivity alongside an undeniable spike in creativity, Iggy Pop has provided the world with the wonderfully macabre new track ‘Gold.’

Teaming up with renowned producer/Gnarls Barkley member Danger Mouse, the track was conceived as the eponymous theme for the upcoming Matthew McConaughey film of the same name.

Recorded at the legendary punk innovator’s home in Miami, the result is a brooding, Ennio Morricone indebted number with vocals that allude towards melancholia afflicted troubadours such as Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave.

A drastic shift in direction from the stripped back and rootsy rock ‘n’ roll of Post Pop Depression, ‘Gold’ and its new approach is demonstrative of his continued importance and relevane.
