HAILING
from the very same creative hotbed that is New York City, it should come as no surprise that The Strokes/The Voidz frontman Julian Casablancas has a strong connection to the works of 60’s beatniks and avant-garde pioneers The Velvet Underground.

Having covered classics such as ‘White Light/White Heat and ‘Run Run Run’ for Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed ‘Vinyl’ on HBO, a new track has emerged in the form of his take on the band’s seminal ‘Venus In Furs.’

Adopting his finest Lou Reed-esque croon, Casablanca’s adheres to the structure and dissonance of the original whilst ramping up the intensity to an unprecedented level. Every bit as hazy and is disorienting as it was intended to be, there’s a doom-laden aesthetic to his revamped version which registers as the most depraved piece of music that’s he’s ever divulged to the public.
