FOLLOWING the surprise arrival of her new single ‘Love’ over the weekend, Lana Del Rey has paired her bittersweet ode to youthful romance with some dreamy new visuals.

Directed by Rich Lee, the clip starts off as a vintage love story, switching between black and white and washed out colour, before taking a cosmic detour to outer space. Taking the form of an intergalactic road trip, a handful of young couples are seen orbiting around space as the songstress performs on a lunar landscape; her celestial vision and intoxicating balladry coming together to create one of her most epic visuals to date.

Of course, the majestic track is fully deserving of its cinematic treatment. Reminiscent of her earlier work on debut album Born To Die, it is filled to the brim with classic Lana; her signature wistful croon coming together with sweeping soundscapes and enchanting mid-tempo rhythms to great effect. Boasting a gorgeous production, the track expertly keeps to the wonderfully retro yet timeless sound that she has made her own in recent years.

Taken from her new album, due out later this year, ‘Love’ is a dazzling indicator as to what we should expect from Lana Del Rey’s next chapter. Created with longtime producer and collaborator Rick Nowels, she has said of the forthcoming album: “I made my first 4 albums for me, but this one is for my fans and about where I hope we are all headed”.
