THE BAND: After releasing several well received and accolade attaining albums over the span of her career, Hampshire’s premier folk musician Laura Marling has announced details of her new album and the video for its enrapturing title track.

THE SOUND: Picking up exactly where she left off on 2013’s excellent Once I Was An Eagle, ‘Short Movie’ is a rousing composition driven by her powerful, emotive vocals and is aided by the addition of violins for its dramatic climax. Abandoning the poppier sensibilities that were present on earlier material entirely, this track indicates her ascendancy into the ranks of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez as one of the great female songwriters’ within the genre, albeit with a modern twist.

THE VIDEO: Its video is a simple, animated affair depicting the journey of a horse as it navigates a variety of terrains and locales. As the track races to its crescendo and nightfall ascends, the stallion begins to transcend its normal appearance.

THE LOWDOWN: Laura Marling’s forthcoming record ‘Short Movie’ will be available from the 23rd March 2015 via Virgin Records.
