FOLLOWING a triumphant homecoming show at the O2 Ritz in Manchester on Tuesday night, Liam Gallagher has finally unveiled his first solo single titled ‘Wall of Glass’.

The former Oasis frontman has been teasing his highly anticipated solo material for months on end but fans can now rejoice in the knowledge that the rock & roll star is back where he belongs. Debuted on Radio 1 earlier today, ‘Wall of Glass’ is everything we’ve been expecting from Gallagher and more. Reminiscent of late-period Oasis, it’s a rocking track packed full of distorted guitars and a massive chorus; the familiar stadium rock anthemics of his earlier material coloured with a pounding drum beat, harmonica and some soulful backing vocals.

Every inch the rock & roll frontman, it’s the return of Gallagher’s brazen attitude and distinctive vocals that will prove so thrilling to fans all over the country. “You were sold the one direction, I believe the resurrection is on” he sings with bold defiance. In the accompanying video, directed by Francois Rousselet, we see the frontman live up to his infamous persona as he struts around a room full of mirrors.

In his interview with Radio 1’s Mistajam, Gallagher said of the track: “For me, it’s just a rock n roll tune, guitar music. Some people try to reinvent the wheel, but I just like to give it a good shine.”

The legendary frontman debuted a host of new material at his first solo UK gig in Mancester last night alongside some old Oasis classics such as ‘Morning Glory’, ‘Rock N Roll Star’ and ‘Live Forever’.  He also recently announced a date at the Barrowlands in Glasgow on 11th June which sold out in minutes. His debut solo album As You Were is expected to arrive later this year in October. Fans will be able to get a sneak preview of it at a number of festivals around Europe this summer including Benicassim, Reading & Leeds and Pinkpop.
