WHEN
a burgeoning artist finds themselves navigating  through a torrid path of expectations which are hastily  placed upon them, it’s easy for the lofty claims of the hype machine to become quite a burden to bear and it’s  commonplace for it to eventually bury them.

However, one Glasgow based artist that’s refusing to let hyperbolic titles and predictions to extinguish her is Lucia Fontaine, a singer-songwriter that’s armed with a voice that doesn’t make a ploy for your attention but is absolutely certain to receive it.

Barely a week removed from launching her  EP to substantial levels of fanfare at Glasgow’s The Poetry Club, Fontaine has released a brand new video for  ‘Lose My Mind.’

Cohabiting in sonic territory with groups such as Vivian Girls and Crocodiles to name a few whilst avoiding the 90’s pastiches which a lot of scuzzy guitar pop groups fall towards, ‘Lose My Mind’ is an exercise in brooding, perfectly paced garage rock. Elevated by Fontaine’s soulful and honest vocals which demonstrates her range and ability to great effect, the track attests to exactly why there’s so much excitement building around her.

Naturally, a song as effortlessly cool as this merits an equally eye-catching video and its corresponding visuals certainly fit this description. Directed by Polly B Morrison, the video is a woozy affair which incorporates a healthy dose of nostalgia alongside a simple but engaging narrative of chaotic and youthful love.

Best Boy EP will be released this autumn via Dead Beet Records.
