LAST week some good weather finally arrived in the west of Scotland and with an apparent telepathic awareness of the fact Mac DeMarco has released a new cut, ‘Another One’, the title track from his forthcoming mini LP, to celebrate.
With its lush keys, woozy guitar lines and stripped back drums, it’s a slice of blissed out jangle pop brimming with summer vibes which are unmistakably Mac. The video also captures the singer songwriter doing what he does best – goofing around in lofi 80’s home video style clips – only this time doing so in an ever so slightly terrifying Michael Jackson mask.
DeMarco has also laid down a gauntlet for fans who think they can go one better than his version by covering the song. Replying here, the best entry will be transferred a cool 69 cents (around 50p) from the Canadian’s personal bank account.
