AHEAD of their appearance at Sub Club this weekend, Glasgow outfit Machines In Heaven have shared an unlikely yet hugely innovative cover of Martha Reeves and the Vandella’s famous track ‘Nowhere to Run’. Known for their fearless and ambitious approach towards electronica, the three-piece have given the popular Motown classic a modern facelift; effectively transforming it into a dark and menacing dancefloor filler.

Virtually unrecognisable from its original form, the track thrives on layers of pulsing beats and synthesisers; the use of distorted vocal hooks just about the only thing keeping it grounded in its classic chorus melody. Starting off tentatively, it isn’t long before the track has you absorbed in a world of deep electronica; layers upon layers are added to the mix as it builds into a typically heady concoction. Never afraid to push boundaries, it is another mesmeric and hypnotic offering from the outfit who continue to impress with their progressive and innovative creations.

Machines In Heaven will be appearing at Sub Club on Friday as part of a special event organised by The High Flight. They will be joined by a selection of Glasgow poets, Bella and the Bear and special guest Kate Tempest.
