THE BAND: Hailing from Brighton, The Magic Gang describe their sound as “music for the mind/body/spirit/soul”. The four piece cross punk with slightly heavier elements in a brilliantly hushed way and possess a constantly expanding fanbase that has aided them in gaining the attention of both high profile bands and labels.
THE SOUND: ‘No Fun’ leads with solemn bass, feedback and foreboding percussion but soon evokes a cheerier tone as the guitar chimes its way into the fray and awakens you to its possibilities. Before you know it you’re listening to a brilliant pop influenced punk track that envelops itself in sun soaked melodies, landing somewhere between Teenage Fanclub and Joy Division.
THE LOWDOWN: ‘No Fun’ is released alongside ‘Alright’ as a limited double A-sided 7” on Monday April 16th 2015 via Telharmonium Records, with the band also set to embark on a UK tour with Wolf Alice. Dates for the aforementioned tour are listed below.
