manc 2The band : Manchester Orchestra are an American rock group hailing from Atlanta, Georgia who formed in 2004. They released their fourth studio album Cope back in March of this year, which was recorded at their self-built home studio.

The sound: ‘Girl Harbour’ is the third single to be taken from their latest album. It finds itself nestled comfortably in an album that is filled with heavy riffs and a pounding rhythm section, much more aggressive than their previous album Simple Math. ‘Girl Harbour’ is actually one of the most laid back tracks on the album, with some sparse verses and delicate lyrics like “you’ve rearranged the pieces of your life, so many times you burned out the parts.” It ends with a return to the trudging beat and heavy guitars as singer Andy Hull repeats the line “You waste so much time”.

The lowdown: The band will return to the UK for a second time this year with a tour spanning September and October. It kicks off in Portsmouth on the 26th September and ends in London on the 7th October, with a show in Glasgow at the O2 ABC on the 2nd October.
