IT’S always a point of contention and discussion when a band reconvenes after a lengthy lay off, re-emerging with a sound eschews much of what built their fanbase in favour of dalliances with new and often more experimental genres.

For Eel Pie Island’s Mystery Jets; a band that came together whilst its members were still frightfully young yet managed to garner considerable success, it’s been a long time coming.

Laying low since 2012’s Radlands, the band have recently made their presence felt once again with the announcement of new LP Curve Of The Earth and have now made their intentions clearer with the ethereal ‘Telomere.’

Setting out with a pensive and more considered approach than the chirpiness and bombast that was present throughout a great deal of their earlier work, ‘Telomere’ enlists fretful yet powerful piano and an enveloping guitar part to grasp hold of the listener’s attention and usher in a new era for the band. The influence and ambition of various prominent bands such as Alt-J, Deerhunter and Public Service Broadcasting is evident in its sound and makes clear the fact that their forthcoming new album is going to be a measured departure from everything we’ve came to expect from their output.

Their new album Curve Of The Earth will be available from the 15th January 2016 via Caroline. In addition to the unveiling of the album’s lead single, the band have also revealed details of their upcoming UK tour which features a date at Glasgow’s The Art School.
