PALMA_VIOLETS_026_COLORAFTER a brief occupation of London’s studio 180, Palma Violets emerged with their debut album. It was raucus, emotive and febrile and catapulted the four lads to the top of the pile. Fresh off the back of their successful NME tour booking the foursome have a couple of, perhaps uncharacteristic, new singles ‘English Tongue’ and ‘Danger in the Club’.

‘English Tongue’ doesn’t represent a huge departure from the sounds of 180 but threre are certainly considerable differences, the chanting and the juked piano gives an air of smoky backrooms of Anglo-Saxon pubs and Chilli even begins to channel Shane McGowan at points. A dimly lit gig in a church is the backdrop to the singles encapsulating video, the four boys doing there thing whilst an odd minister/pirate conducts the crowd and a woman in the front appears to have caught the holy ghost. “Everybody knows just who I am”, thats probably the bands aim but it is yet to be seen if upcoming the release can live up to the billing but if these lively initial singles are anything to go by then the band can make concerted strides in that direction.

Danger in the Club is set for worldwide release on 4th May 2015 and the band play dates around the UK including shows in Leeds and Cardiff. They are also due to perform at T in the Park in July.
