JUST days removed from their headline show at The Hug and Pint in Glasgow, futuristic pop band POLO have unveiled ‘Soak’, the second single from their debut EP Alice.
Built on a foundation of warm synth lines and sparse beats, the minimalist backdrop allows Kat Mchugh’s ethereal vocals to take centre stage; her introspective lyricism revealing an emotional depth to the track that is further expressed by her affecting delivery. A more layered and atmospheric production gradually takes over as the track draws to a close; resulting in a sparkling finale.
By combining their crisp and intelligent compositions with glacial atmospherics, woozy synth sounds and evocative lyrics, POLO have crafted a progressive r’n’b tinged sound that has stood them apart as ones to watch. Effectively setting up the release of their debut EP Alice on 10th March through AWAL, ‘Soak’ will be one of four tracks listed on the release.
