Glasgow-based singer/songwriter with a consummate work ethic and a gravelly vocal style that portrays both world weariness and pensive optimism with ease, Mark McGowan is growing in leaps and bounds.

Initially making his presence felt with the tremendous Fugazi EP, his unique mix of soulful lamentations and the sort of traditional folk that rose to prominence in the 60’s continues to attract more converts every time he steps on the stage.

Released ahead of his biggest headline show to date, the rugged troubadour has now unveiled the video for ‘Hot Coals.’

Continuing to expand his repertoire with tracks that demonstrate the depths of his insights into the twisted human psyche, his latest offering attests to a positive mindset amid all of the chaos and recalls the unique imagery of Randy Newman and Paul Simon. With his confessional, unadulterated drawl supplemented by little more than lively hand-claps and hints of strings and piano, ‘Hot Coals’ acts as the optimum showcase for his multi-faceted talent and is demonstrative of a refusal to stay in any preexisting lane.

Featuring footage of Mark’s solitary journey around Glasgow which takes him from dimly lit bars to the grounds of a church as he searches for the right answers,Mark will play his biggest headline show yet at Oran Mor on Friday 3rd November with tickets available right now.
