FOLLOWING the massive success of his debut album ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ this summer, Sam Fender has released a studio version of live fan favourite ‘All Is On My Side’.

Released as a ‘thank you’ to fans, it’s another exquisite turn from the Geordie singer-songwriter which once again demonstrates his flare for storytelling and heart-bursting guitar work. The kind of atmospheric cut you’d expect to hear on a War on Drugs album, a rippling rhythm section drives the thought-provoking track while sax flourishes creep into the foreground. Gradually building across five minutes, it all makes way for an explosive, impassioned finale which features a rousing triumph of a guitar solo.

The track is accompanied by footage from Fender’s recent European tour which stopped by in Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Brussels, Munich, Paris and other cities. Spliced together by director Jack Whitefield, he said of the celebratory clip: “”The film was shot entirely on 16mm and 8mm film stock then edited partially by hand using a 1979 Steenbeck editing table. This allowed me to choose specific scenes, remove them from the reel of film and deface them with scratches, tape, holes, and create hand made transitions between scenes.”

Meanwhile Sam Fender says of the track: “All Is On My Side is a real live favourite for me. It’s been a mainstay in the set for a couple of years now and it’s nice to release this as a bit of a thank you to all the fans at the end of the year.”

Topping off what has been a truly momentous year for the singer-songwriter, ‘All Is On My Side’ arrives ahead of Fender’s first of two sold-out headline shows at Brixton Academy tonight.
