Scary People

The Band: Despite forming little over a year ago, Dundonian five piece Scary People have already racked-up support dates with The Cribs and The View, as well as slots on the T Break stage at T in the Park and Wickerman Festival – all the while still having time to finish off two EP’s. What the band lack in longevity they make up for in pedigree, with members Dan and Scott having previously worked as touring technicians for close friends The View. Along with the likes of Fat Goth and Vladimir, Scary People are at the forefront of the contemporary Dundee rock scene.

The Sound: With three guitarists in tow, ‘Black Eyes’ is a predictably colossal sonic assault which nods to heavyweight alt-rock influences such as QOTSA and Nine Inch Nails. Coming in at an abrasive 02:30 minutes, the cascading guitars and unrelenting drums eventually culminate in a massive crescendo, providing a raw and unique listening experience.

The Lowdown: This latest single sees the band team up with producer Matt Lawrence (Feeder, Foals, The Rolling Stones) and is available for download here. Having recently completed a Scottish tour with fellow natives Avast!, the band will no doubt be back for more dates in the new year.
